If you have a broken or infected tooth, you must extract it, If the other options to repair it fails or not possible.

Wisdom teeth can be very painful. Whether they are in or are just coming in with angulation, they can pose a problem to the adjacent tooth and embed into the jaw bone, called impacted teeth. Impacted wisdom teeth should be extracted by an oral surgeon.

What are the Types of Tooth Extraction?

Tooth extraction may be Simple removal or surgical extraction.

In a simple removal, the dentist will first loosen the tooth with a tool called an elevator. He then uses forceps to remove the tooth.

The other kind is a surgical extraction. This is for when the tooth is not visible or is under the gum. Usually, surgical extractions are done on wisdom teeth. The dentist will cut a small incision in your gum and extract the affected tooth.
